The Infected
Zombi Kite was founded by Joseph Garan in the Fall of 2007.  A lifelong boater and board rider he has been a US Sailing Instructor since 2003. He got his first exposure to kitesurfing the following year and has been completely addicted ever since.   After three seasons of kiting he received his IKO Instructor Certification and began applying his knowledge of wind, water and teaching experience to kiteboarding.

A graduate of the University of Colorado, Boulder he received a B.S. in Finance and Business Administration. During school he continued to kite on Boulder Reservoir which was frequently blessed with the famed (yet often gusty)  Chinook Winds.

During the winter months you can find him snowkiting on Lake Dillon in Summit County, Colorado,  shredding the Mary Jane trees at Winter Park or kiting warm winds on Florida's Gulf Coast.

He is responsible for all of Zombi Kite's day-to-day operations. He manages the website, e-store and marketing efforts.

An avid zombie movie fan, the parallels between a ravenous  zombie plague and the infectious nature of kitesurfing are obvious. Like the coming zombie apocalypse kiting "cannot be contained."

He named the company Zombi Kite in honor of director Lucio Fulci's Italian zombie masterpiece- Zombi II.
